9 days agoI think a lot of people confuse internet security and internet privacy. META, Google, M$, and their ilk are highly concerned that your account is not hacked, but then use/sell every aspect of your personal life for profit.

My old phone is on its last leg, but I’m holding out for a Huawei or VIVO with HarmonyNextOS. I so want to end everything Google.
I would think the Chinese government switching all government PCs and servers to KylinOS by 2026, would be weighing on all US tech companies.
Any major distro will work, it’s the Desktop Environment that you’ll want to examine. Whether GNOME, KDE, Xfce, etc. the DE is what you’ll mostly deal with when computing. Try distrowatch.com for a good overview of various flavors. I, personally, have always started newbies off with PCLOS with KDE, as Tex tends to avoid the bleeding edge in favor of stability.
