ohyeah im fully aware. Will they actually delete it or will they just mark it in database as deleted? Are big companies like google going to send their tech workers to go through all their tapes and databases archived all around the world and prove they actually deleted your data? Are there enough consequences to ensure companies actually scrub your data rather than do the bare minimum?

Just say you don’t care about privacy and having all your data out there for anyone to do anything they want with.

They can’t delete everything they’ve collected and they propaply don’t.

In a few years the “do not agree” will dissapear anyway.

Idunno why you don’t think having an unique hash attatched to your data is no biggie. Especially if that hash is easily cracked in a few years by quantum computers.

I’ve heard hardware raid is not preferred since it is unreliable and it takes no effort for a modern apu or cpu to do it software wise.

Amd is more effecient, better but the price is up since everyone is buying them like hotcakes, making them scarse. That being said n100 by intel should be plenty for any application except gaming

People buils jellyfin media servers out nases which have complete garbage computing power. It really does not take much unless you have like 4 4k tvs and fell for dolby atmos scam.

You can save money on das by getting a 2 drive enclosure. Im not sure if drive enclosure is just marketing for non tech enthusiast das or if there’s a real difference.

But in practical terms haha storage go brr either way.

So far it’s; genmachine 5500u pc barebones, will get random ram and steam decks 256gb ssd, fedora server and some rabdom twin drive hdd enclosure with used 4tb disks to start with. 8gb of ram should be plenty as going 16gb ddr4 to 32gb ddr5 made no difference at all on my main gaming/dev/3d rig.

Total cost: 158 for mini pc, twin drive enclosure 60, 4tb drives: 50 eur each, ram 15 eur or around entry level twin drive nas price.

Id if there’s any build thread to post about “i shoved an external drive up the ass of a chinese mini pc and labelled it homelab”

Aliexpress summer sale started. Getting a 150 eur ryzen mini pc and slapping some hdds onto it for a cheap media server/nas with 4 digit nas specs.

idunno jellyfin was stupid easy to set up and works for me. Plex seems terrible.

So let me get this straight: you own the content, you host the content on your machine, you pay the electricity and internet and plex says it can’t afford to let you share it to others without a subscription fee?
